I have been an avid fan from the very beginning. Each year I watched with enthusiasm as the team unraveled the mystery. This year, however, the show has taken a new direction. Over half of the show is spent "reminiscing" the past shows. Fans get it. We've been watching. Seeing the same "treasure map" each week, having to see old footage every time a piece of wood comes out of the ground (sometimes repeated several times in each episode) and listening to the announcer repeatedly say "a potentially important clue combined with your so called "metal detection expert" WHO HAS NEVER GOTTEN ANYTHING RIGHT is just too much.
I suspect that the reason Gary doesn't visit Carmen anymore is because Carmen was tired of listening to Gary misidentify EVERYTHING that comes out of the ground. Why can't he do his own digging? It's absurd to have him need a "digger" to move a shovelful of dirt.
All in all, this has been a disappointing season and it's time to stop wasting my time if the format doesn't change and the focus moves back to what is happening NOW and not what happened in the past.
although this season rates One Star, I gave three for all the previous seasons.
