This is THE film for movie-goers... It is a claustrophobic journey of a lad that takes him through the mythical horrors of the lighthouse accompanied by his loneliness... This is the story... Believe me, you need to be with him to experience it... Crisp dialogues, brilliant and intelligent production design (its a low budget movie, and you won't even know it!!), and half of the horror is imposed through that awesome soundtrack and the list goes on... Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson have pulled off one of the greatest performances I have ever seen in a movie... The cinematography is top notch and above all, is the director Eggers who just championed the art of filmmaking with this masterpiece... I'm not exaggerating, but I had forgotten that I was watching a movie... I was there, with them... That's the power of this movie... Though, Oscars is not a metric, this film deserved to be there in the winner's list in many categories (instead of a SINGLE NOMINATION!!) A bigger production house might have gotten this there but then it would've lost its sheen... Really Oscars, you missed this gem called The Lighthouse!!
