Joker 2 is a complete misfire, turning what could have been a gritty, psychological follow-up into a baffling musical mess. The decision to incorporate musical numbers feels not only misguided but utterly disruptive, as if the film can't decide whether it wants to be a dark thriller or a surreal Broadway show. The tonal shifts are jarring, making it nearly impossible to stay engaged with the story.
Joaquin Phoenix’s once-grounded portrayal of Arthur Fleck is now drowned in over-the-top theatrics that feel more like a gimmick than meaningful character development. Even Lady Gaga’s presence can't save the film; her performance gets lost in a chaotic blend of awkward dance routines and melodramatic singing that adds nothing to the narrative.
The end result is a sequel that feels like a hollow parody of its predecessor. The musical elements only serve to distract from any potential depth, making the film, a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish.
Awful!
