This is why ordinary people hate art films. 8 1/2, Close Up, Solaris are my favourite films, and Tarkovsky and Ozu are among my favourite directors, the film dedicates itself to them in the end and calls them angels. Now why I am talking about this, because people will merely scruff off any complaint you have about this film because you aren't high IQ or cultured. The film makes no effort to be present itself in an engaging way at all. It is the most boring film possibly ever to achieve this level of praise. It isn't just "slow" there is basically no characters for very large part of the film. It's really a case of the emperors new clothes. And I can see why it's in black & white, it has an angel (automatic religious symbolism) the story definitely sounds poetic and cool on the surface. These are the types of tropes we associate with art films. I dare say that it is and I know who is reading this probably hates this word, PRETENTIOUS.

The film is gross and inhuman. Characters are unlikeable. This film is also simply too long on top of this making its flaws hit that one bit harder.

It's more than a movie it's an experience, a dialogue on life and the universe.

Original and very emotionally potent with a strong emphasis on characters and human emotion. I believe a good movie makes you think, and a great movie makes you feel. If you think you agree with that I would highly recommend this wonderful movie to you.

This is one of the most interesting films I've ever seen. I highly recommend it. Around halfway I was thinking that this film was going to be my new favourite of all time, it was truly a masterpiece, then the plot and direction ended up taking so may mis directions bringing me a great disappointment.

The story starts and ends very engagingly. I watched this show a while ago and I still often think about it. The first season is perfect, and holds some of the greatest moments in popular anime culture. The pacing of many of the episodes in the middle of the series is quite drawn out making it a little bit boring especially compared to the extremely exciting and fast pacing at the start. The protagonist (Light) is a very memorable character that has great development throughout the series. Not every character is particularly well written but they all come together to create a great story.

Great potential but with many misdirections in writing. It is often times very boring, there are however some really interesting and emotionally engaging story arcs although hidden underneath a plethora of mediocreness and amatuer writing.
