I have played EVERY AC game up to Origins at the time of writing (except Rogue) and this is easily one of my favorites. The best part is, even if you aren't an AC vet like myself with 5,000+ hours in the series, you can jump into this without missing much. I would HIGHLY recommend playing all of them (in order), however, because the over-arching story deals with advanced, ancient civilizations led by a woman named Juno. Although she doesn't appear much, her character is written well throughout the series, and playing them chronologically (in order of release) is actually much better than playing them canonically. If you want ANY chance of having even the smallest clue about whats going on from game to game, trust me on this. The only thing I dislike about Origins is how much it strays away from the modern day stuff and the Juno story. Nobody else likes it, but us OG AC fans remember how much that intrigue is what kept us captivated throughout the early series.
The game looks great and plays even better. The story is a heartbreaking tale about love, revenge, and a father's quest to avenge his son. Everything from the main plot-line, to the side characters you meet along the way is VERY well written. I would also like to mention that this game plays much more like a Legend of Zelda game than it does your typical AC experience, and this is to the benefit of the player. That style and formula works VERY well here.
I would give this game a 8.7/10
