I find regulating algorithms and facial recognition to be similar to so many other structures that are put in place to address the symptoms of systemic oppression, but not attacking the root cause and/or systems in place that result in biased algorithms. I wonder if there's something that we can learn from China that despite all the state propaganda and closely controlled media, the state is transparent in the usage of facial recognition software and other algorithmic metric systems. With that said, I'm not sure if completely banning algorithmic systems is the way to go.
The film ends with how the ability for AI to follow every instruction thoroughly may be in fact inhuman, but then reflecting on human nature, I'm not sure it is always best to be "human".
