Absolutely my favorite book ever. If you enjoy fantastical settings and well-written world building, this is perfect for you.
To me, Kvothe is one of the greatest characters in literature. He is incredibly selfish, vain, arrogant, but also intensely motivated, good to his friends, and intelligent. Kvothe is very human, and Rothfuss makes his flaws and strengths the key to his story.
If you like good books, give this one a chance. Most the criticism I've seen has been on Rothfuss' style, which waxes flowery at times. Personally, I enjoy it.
At the least, try it. If you don't like it after the first few chapters, no harm done.
