I am not an ex RAF serviceman nor do I claim to be a film critic. I didn’t walk out halfway due to a sense of distinct inaccuracy or rant / rave that a salute wasn’t 100% correct (as it wouldn’t have been in reality no doubt). I kept an open mind. I am passionate about aviation and interested in the history of Bomber Command during World War II.
As the film progressed I really felt I was getting to know the characters and their individual stories / experiences in life. This made a good climatic ending by which time I really had developed a sense of the crews comradery.
The story in my view, was about trying to understand the frailties that these men and women endured on a daily basis. The actors were superb and the film was a fitting tribute to the men and women of bomber command, after all this wasn’t a documentary, it was a film about people.
