Imagine waking up one day and discovering that you'd been asleep for over 2 centuries, everyone you knew has been long dead, your home is gone, you dart out of the window and its not walls or buildings that you see but spacecraft's zipping around. This place is impossible. This is space.
For someone who was never familiar with Kaufman/Kristoff masterpieces, this book did a really good job guilt tripping me into why I wasn't. I'll admit I'm really late but this book's going down as one of my favourite 2020 reads. Why?
Well, for one, the plot presented is absolutely magnificent! Its a be all, end all YA sci-fi by amie and jay. Its a healthy dose of fast-paced, action-packed, ruthlessly hilarious, heart-wrenching space adventure with a considerate amount of romcom which'll render you wondering which ship'll go down canon.
But the best part, I never can comprehend how do writers portray their characters in a way that has me so latched onto them, like they were alive and breathing in front of me.
Yes, that's what the ragtag bunch of misfits in Squad 312 are. These characters will have your interest piqued till the very last pages. Be it Tyler: The Alpha, Scarlet: The Face, Cat: The Ace, Zila: The Brain, Fin: The Gearhead, Kal: The Tank๐ or Auri: The Mysterious Girl.
Oh and did I mention? ....I'm going down with KalXAuri ship ๐
With vivid imagery and suspenseful cliffs, this is an unable-to-put-down series with Aurora Burning at its tail. Though curious how the plot will turn out in the next book ( cuz the ending had me some answers and alot more questions peaking ), it packs a worthwhile of good adventure and is gold for Sci-fi heads like me.
The only point worth detection was the fact that there are several POVs, from 7 different characters which kind of messes with your brain at a point. I had to do a rewind check in order to connect POVs previously to the present. Therefore a 4 stars.
But above all, Aurora Rising was Fantastic!
