This has been my comfort movie since I’ve first watched it. I don’t know how many times I have watch this.
The atmosphere, story line and even the dialogue are something a woman will try to sit back and watch. I once watch it with my brother, he wasn’t really ‘watching’ but there are some scenes that he didn’t understand. Like when Cassie (the main character) was tried to be brought by the guy on his home on there first date then she suddenly became pissed. Which if you are a woman or a man older than my brother know that the guy’s intention is to have a pass on the girl.
The three being said on the paragraph above made it so obvious that this movie is made for girls and not to cater to the wants of the ‘male audience’. (I’m talking about toxic masculinity in the film industry when having too pastel and ‘girly themed’ cinematography is viewed as ‘not good enough’). But toxic masculinity aside this should be watch by all genders.
I waited for this film for years since I saw the trailer of this even before the quarantine started and even when 2020 is almost over since it when it was first scene I wasn’t able to watch it.
At first you will thought that this movie is about revenge and killing ‘nice guys’ that will all know are just nice because they want something. A subject that is well put out by the woman of today’s time. A lot of men are arguing why women don’t want ‘nice guys’ for we know that nice is a clear coating of what really rotten inside. But the good part is, she didn’t really killed them. Which give us a hint of what’s really ahead of us on the movie.
This film really gave us both the dream like fantasy (as I am a woman) and a slap of reality. The cruelness of everything around and yet having the grip to still fight with sanity is the repeating echo of this film has.
So if you still didn’t watch this. Please go watch it!
