I agree with what The New York Times said, “what I wished for wasn’t what Patchett was trying to achieve.” engaging brother and sister, but compared with “state of wonder”, “run”,”Patron saint of Liars” and “Bell Canto” this has some excellent writing but not in the league with her other brilliance”
