Beautiful visually, music/sound design impeccable. That said, I was left disappointed, expecting 5 stars and getting 4. Same complaint I had with Lynch's version. Too much in too little time. I felt like I was short of breath through the whole 2 1/2 hours which needed to be 4 minimum. Ok even better a series like Game of Thrones stretched over 8 hours for the whole story would have been way better. The film format was too short.

I totally understand why this movie got bad reviews in RT. You're going to love it or hate it. It's not easy to watch. The term fingernails scratching a blackboard comes to mind. That said, Sam Levinson's stark black & white 2 hander is relentless in it's execution, yes flawed but intentionally so; designed to make us feel uncomfortable - not only with the subject matter but also with our own interpretation of it. I wouldn't recommend it for any couple struggling in lockdown, sitting in front of Netflix together yet again, looking to be entertained, looking to forget their problems for a few hours. Nope. Don't do it.

A post apocalyptic microscope focusses in on America's dark side and the insanity that is Flint Michigan. Daily homicides/guns, domestic violence, drugs and fires/arson all rampant in the small city that was decimated after General Motors closed (1978) and adding fuel to the fire, when their Governor later switched their water supply from the lake to the river, causing lead poisoning, sickness and despair. Now, it's skeleton police force has to sell it's confiscated firearms back to the community to raise money because their resources are stretched to the max in a country that doesn't seem to care.
