The visuals are stunning and the audio is good, but the movie tries too hard to be ahead of itself. Instead of a good story with good cinematic, it feels like it’s trying to hard to be smart instead of just being smart. I never bought into the love interest, all the emotions seemed forced and empty, and by the end, I didn’t care who died, when, or how. The “drama” and “morality of mankind” underlying the events was contrived and unnecessarily explained. It seemed to make up the rules as it went in terms of how the backwards/forwards worked.
