The story, of course is fabulous and the spitfire must be the most famous aircraft in the world alongside the Concorde. However, the acting and dialog is really awful - probably due to the script, but it shows how acting and scrIpts, not to mention locations etc have changed in a really remarkable way since film making began.
It's worth watching just to see what we were happy with in the 40's.
