I am Tamil but didn’t think too much about the non Tamil cast. I believe any genuine actor will execute a role beautifully, if talented.
But this film is a disgrace to film adaptations.
The whole film looked rushed, snipped here and there, incoherently woven.
The spoken Tamil was bad, I could not understand it. Fine. Neither were there sub-titles!!! Like really!!? No sub-titles on Netflix.
So I did not know what was happening half way through the film.
Eventually it did not tell any story, that it was focussed on, properly. Neither did it elaborate on the civil war nor about Arjie’s coming of age. Just rushed by hurried hands and a desperate director. Leaving aside the diaspora critics, the whole film fails the book. May be so so d else should direct it better next time.
