How’d you mess this up?
I’m sure it’s better on PC which is what I tried to do but for some reason doesn’t run on a Windows Surface Pro 7 (anyone reading this check to make sure it works before burning $40).
Usually I’d accept that because it’s a tablet not a gaming laptop, but come on guys. This game ran on Windows XP 20 years ago. It ain’t like you reinvented the wheel here. All you had to do was update the graphics a bit. Why lock out a bunch of systems? Not like it’s a complex game.
That being said, I’m left to try to enjoy this on console. Whole nother set of issues there. First off, whatever genius decided to launch this on console without named lobbies go ahead and ship that man over to the Activision side so he can help re-re-re-release Verdansk and add some micro transactions. Let him work on the Toyota Corolla. Don’t ruin the Classic Camaro.
Don’t know how they missed this, but playing this game without lobbies is like watching glue dry. The console matchmaking system is absolute garbage. I’ve been able to find like two people who both immediately left because I frightened them or something.
Then we get into the gameplay.
I rolled frenzy barb cause i enjoy it. This was a mistake. Impossible to play because the animation glitches every two seconds on console and I hit nothing. Dealt with it thinking “wow this is a big issue, surely they’ll patch it soon.” Dead wrong. How was this even an issue to begin with? Did they not play the game before releasing it? This is blatant.
Dealt with it all the way to Hell mode where I am now getting absolutely dominated because I can’t find anyone to trade with to get better gear (no lobbies coming in clutch). I don’t really want to do 2000 Baal runs on players 1 difficulty to gear up enough to defeat the Den of Evil either.
Tried blizz sorc to make it easy. Impossible to control on console. Blizzard kinda useless when you can’t choose where to put it. Maybe the other classes are better. Who knows. The bars pretty low but I don’t want to waste the time.
They had an already made game, 20 years of time, a beta test, an extremely loyal fan base and Diablo 3 which was already made on console to show them how to do to it, and still dropped the ball somehow.
They had the all the answers to the test and still failed. I can’t think of anything lazier than having an exorbitant amount of time to accomplish a simple task where everything is given to you and turn in a half finished product. 20 years later. Unreal.
However, I have a friend that does exactly all this. Gets everything handed to him and turns it into failure. But we all still like him. Same with this game. At the moment, it’s a lazy disaster money grab. But I still like it because it’s D2 and I’m nostalgic I guess.
For now though, absolute 1-star effort. Fix the glitches and add console lobbies and it’ll go right up to 5-Star.
