Fans of the original manga and anime are going to hate this movie. I had to remind myself constantly to detach from the original to semi enjoy the show. Which is hard. In the originals, Light is a popular, well bred handsome genius. L is thoughtful, soft spoken. He never wavered for more than a few seconds at best. The Japan live action movies are better to new audiences. It followed the originals pretty closely. Even the portrayal of L by the actor was perfect.
