1978 series was great for its time. Much brighter feeling, actors i think were better in some ways. The more rustic feel of the Galactica ,very industrial looking. The reboot 2003 was darker, was a great series until maybe the 3rd season and then everyone is a cylon, thats when it went way down hill. I didnt mind Katee Sackhoff as Starbuck, Edward Olmos was a better Adama . I feel with the Baltar character the 1978 series had it correct, i also think the 1978 series had cylons correct and they should have kept the cyclons as machines. At the start of the new series 2003 , the meetings that takes places after 40 years at the outpost when the Human officer gets a first look at the human cylon Tricia Helfner , the cylon guards present is how they should have updated the show , and not the cylons are human looking in presence . When they went that route they dumbed it down a bit, they could have introduced one human looking cylon , possibly a Baltar Clone using his DNA. ABC and the SCI-FI channel almost went out of their way to kill the series 1980 reboot was terrible and all new actors from budget restraint and if i was an actor and read the plot i would have said no as well. The 3rd season (everyone is a cylon) is what killed the 2003 reboot. In my opinion the only way to reboot this again is to start fresh with younger actors, sign them on for a 6 year deal, possibly 14 episodes a season and DONT RUSH IT like the previous series. This story has so much possibility with story line and spin offs its crazy, its the lead up to Star Wars(where the audience is plopped down and here it is) with no question of how did these people get to this point with tech and colonizing different galaxies. The 2003 series had good graphics and was movie quality , while 1978 was a product of its time. Edward Olmos has already written a sequel to the 2003. I would suggest if another reboot is coming they would have him be a co writer to a brand new reboot.
