I'm going to give a list of problems with this movie, including spoilers because you shouldn't watch it anyway.
Bad writing.
They forgot to give it a plot. No, really, the whole "plot" might be covered in about 20 minutes of scattered mess.
They build up certain events, like Logan's foot going through a stair in the basement, with no payoff. For the rest of the movie, they show him jumping over the step while his mom still uses it. Nobody brings it up. It plays no role in the film later. It was a big deal for no reason.
The dad's death was overplayed and also awkwardly written in, like an afterthought, or like it was usually forgotten while they were writing the movie.
TERRIBLE dialogue.
The characters with the most development are secondary characters whose roles are both limited to "helpful, potentially the murderer, but aren't."
The only surprise about the murderer is that it was too obvious.
Also, the sound design. How are you going to play ambient music when the protagonist is trying to listen for strange noises in the house? That's when, at most, you have the "inaudibly low" hum backing up the creaks and pops of the strange house, not a whole score drowning the noises out.
