I watched Friends in 2018. As someone who hadn't watched a lot of series/sitcoms back then, I absolutely enjoyed Friends and ended up watching all seasons 4times down the line. Now with time, I realized Friends was a great show considering the zeitgeist of the 90's and early 00's. However, as I exposed myself to a myriad of other sitcoms and shows, I understood the problematic sides too and could acknowledge the collective hate that is present today against this show.
However, despite some of its limitations, Friends was unique to me. I came across a lot of fake Friends reunion trailers over the years and when finally the REAL Reunion was announced,I was thrilled. I always hoped to see their current states together for once all under the same roof. My wish finally came true today.
Reminiscing the memorable episodes and moments with the Friends cast was like reliving the show all over again. Some of them like Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston and Matt Le Blanc are evergreen;it's as if they didn't age at all. Matthew Perry's earlier vigour has dissipated with his unfortunate events in life ,but I was really glad to see them one last time together. Mr Heckles,Janice and Richard also got a revering tribute. I was astounded to find both Mr and Mrs Geller too for they indeed aged a lot and I'm glad they are still here. The Friends casrs' talking about their inner bonds and closeness indeed shows they had a wonderful chemistry backstage. This is what I think made the casts so perfect together. By the end, I grew really emotional along with the cast. They had given me some delightful moments in the past. Watching them going down the memory lane and getting emotional made me realize how much we crave for beautiful memories when you've reached a certain age and reminisce about the past.
