I was 15 in 1969 and also grew up in North Belfast. Ciaran Hinds's grandmother lived across the road. I still live here today. This movie is a snapshot of those horrible times but doesn't really go much deeper than that. Memories of a small boy together mixed with family emotions and all that that entails. It's a lovely little movie but not academy award material. I can see that many scenes were inspired by a previous "Belfast" movie. "Mickey Bo and Me." Ciaran Hinds' was in that one too. The cowboy western themes were obviously inspired by that movie. All in all an entertaining film but it lacks depth and if you were to visit Belfast after watching it.. You'd be non the wiser.

Just when I thought it had ended, it started up again. Started once more then nearly ended... Just when I thought the end was nigh.. Lo and behold it started up again! A flurry of starts and endings. I finally realised that it was all over when the credits rolled! 😊
