Boring.....
The theme and topic of the movie is to accept attraction and love between two human beings of the same sex - Accepted.
The purpose of the movie is to spread the message that homosexuality is a natural way of life and not a choice taken to be so - Message received.
But,
Most of the audience is already aware of all the above Gyaan for a long time and have come to watch a fun movie with Ace Actors who portray the situations faced by Homosexuals and the confusion and chaos that follows when their families get to know about it for the first time and come to a understanding at the end of the movie, after taking you on a rollercoaster ride of laughter and emotions. At least that is what the casting promised.
Ayushman - is just there in the movie, Not a single scene has anything special that Ayushman always brings to the screen.
Jitendra - He seems earnest, but he was on the same note from start to end.
Gajraj - He had some good moments in the movie, funny as well as emotional.
Neena Gupta - The best of the cast.
The family members were all genuine and well cast. Kudos to that.
I wanted to walk out of the movie, twice, when I saw that the story arc wasn't going anywhere at all... Just one flatline of a story ! It exists but never comes alive. I was just feeling so dull watching all these awesome actors on screen, but not a single one connecting with any line they were saying. It was all so artificial, for a story trying to accept something as Natural.
You don't feel for any of the characters, even though the BG music tries it very best to force you to feel that the situation is now sad- so please blink and think saaad. Now, the Situation is happy and peppy, so open your mouth and laugh.
And Now....we don't know what's happening on screen, so...uh... we'll put some beats and add some words and leave it you to either laugh or slap your forehead....or walk out.
I so wanted to enjoy the movie, knowing the Cast is the best at what it does and will keep the audience rolling with laughter. But, what can they do when the screenplay and editing, do not display their skills in the best way possible, atleast not in most parts of the movie.
Ayushman bro, you make the bravest of choices when it comes to choosing scripts and we love you for that. So, please don't allow yourself to be mixed into half baked stories that sound nice but don't come out well as intended, even though the intentions are good.
