Very disappointing to have no nursing representation on your panel this morning and to hear comments that we were given what our negotiators asked for. This completely false yes our negotiators had a meeting with the Ministry and outlined our concerns. What the DHB offered was contrary to that discussion. The members of NZNO have the vote on whether any offer is excepted or not, not the negotiators. It is well outside good faith bargaining that the DHB and the ministry’s spin and misrepresent actual negotiations.
In regards to pay we have been underpaid for over 20 years and that is why currently their a Pay Equity agreement which is already 2 years after the date the government promised. We are also waiting on holiday back pay which the DHBs took to much out of our pay since 2018.
Safe staffing has been promised as far back as 2004. So your guests today are completely misleading I’ll informed the public by only telling the DHB and Ministry view again nurses voices not heard. Jack I expect better from you your questions lead to one view you didn’t follow through with rebuttals of our view. A missed opportunity in my opinion. Please do not allow this to happen. You need nurses on your panel to tell our story so everyone knows that we are not just standing up to survive but standing up for our profession now and for the future but mostly for our patients.
