gross. so so so so so gross. romanticises abuse and harmful relationships, whilst overtly sexualising the main character and her struggles with mental illness. the weeknd in this show is repulsive and the fact that they attempt a redemption arc is sickening.

I honestly can't believe the good reviews on this movie. I don't know if I'd say that I watch things with a critical eye, but even then everything was off. It said it was based in 1984, but saw no effort to make it actually seem like it. The main character has long hair in loose curls - VERY 2020 - and all the characters were dressed in mid-2010s clothing you'd find at Target. When she was interviewed by police, the detectives were NOT acting like their profession at all, not even trying to act like they were doing their job. It was like the director told the actors to be dismissal about everything Lisa said, but the actors just took that WAY too literally. I'm not even half way through the movie and its honestly going to be an effort to finish it.
