Highly insulted international cricket , very poor direction.! Shahid kapoor's character shown as a cricketer but due to some politics he could not get selected in Indian Cricket team. He quits cricket and joins a job and marries his girlfriend and a son is born. Due to some fake bribery charges Shahid looses his job, and all household expenses are born by his wife . Shahid struggles for Rs. 500 to buy a gift on his son's birthday which he promised him, his wife refused to give the money. Shahid gets to know from his coach that New Zealand team is playing a charity match with Punjab team and there is a player's vacancy and player will get Rs. 1000. So after 10 years Shahid plays again n hits a century...LOL.... A local player afyer 10 yrs of break hits a century against an international team.. HIGHLY INSULTING FOR INTERNATIONAL CRICKET. Shahid's coach approaches him for vice coach job but Shahid insists that he wants to play for indian team again at the age of 36 and after 10 yrs brk from cricket..LOL.... Shahid is portrayed as a incredibly good batsman even though he touches his bat after 10 years, and he gets selected and gets to play for Punjab for Ranjhi trophy. In the entire trophy he plays much better than 'Mahi' of 'Dhoni' movie and leads Punjab team to finals single handedly. Before final match he gets a medical condition and visits hospital, where his wife visits and insists her to quit cricket considering their poor family. She asks him to choose between family and cricket. Shahid convinces her to let him play later in movie stating that he wants to be a hero in his son's eyes and again single handedly makes Punjab win Ranjhi , and due to his medical condition he dies after 2 days. In last part, a novelist writes story of Shahid in a novel "Jersey" and it is revealed that Shahid had a heart disease which he knew about when he was 26 and thats why he left cricket...LOL what a script, initially he left cricket so he could live and later decides to die. Direction is very poor, showing 1985 or 1992, Shahid was always dressed as if it was 2022.
