Loved the show. Loved how they have shown more than a decade’s span with one actor. Loved how they presented Beth’s evolving character and mental states with her dressing sense and color grades. Loved how they were able to show a game like chess in a cinematic thrilling way. There are two things, however, I wish they had explained better in the show, or at least in the making, for those of us who haven’t read the book. First - how was Beth able to survive the accident without even a scratch? There must definitely be a symbolic meaning to it, because they made sure to repeat it twice in the show. But I can’t put my finger on it. The only reason I can think of is that her mother made sure that the accident happens in a way that Beth is protected. But then again, during her last moments, Alice was not very loving or compassionate towards Beth, so it just doesn’t make sense. Second - what was the meaning behind focusing on ‘Sicilian strategy’ so much? They have focused on that strategy much more than Queen’s Gambit itself (the name popped up much more throughout the show).

Damnnnn I’m hooked to this show. I started it just for fun knowing that there was a female superhero, but it kept growing on me and by the end of season 4, I’m totally mind-blown! The concept is simply amazing. It’s no less than the epic fantasies we already know. If only this was made a bit more maturely (the episodes in the beginning make it more like a kids’ cartoon), maybe more like animes such as Naruto, this series would be much more well-known. This, and the all female cast are the two reasons I can think of why this show is not as famous as the others in the same genre (because young boys wouldn’t relate with princesses and buff women fighting against the villains of the universe, that’s how it is, isn’t it? *sarcasm intended*) But anyway, five stars for the concept and character development! Another good thing about this show is that it’s inclusive of the lgbtq community and has extremely relatable characters. The way this show deals with teenagers’ emotions and talks about friendship like a true coming of age story, is heart rending and commendable. I’m so glad people thought of female leads and lgbtq community and created a superhero series of this level. I genuinely wish more and more people watch it especially teenagers and young adults, and it gets its due fame, respect and fan following with time. Count me as a fan already!
