Lots of CGI of aerial combat and good acting can’t overcome the mediocre writing, condensed time frame and contrived situations in this mini-series. Mostly all Officers (all the time) protagonists, who get shot down—but survive, and are present at concentration camps and manage to escape or be liberated. A far cry from ‘Band of Brothers’ or ‘The Pacific’ true life GI Joes. Politically correct Hollywood includes the Holocaust, Tuskegee Airmen fighter pilots (no other ethnic groups evidently flew fighters), and omits carpet bombing and incendiary attacks, that would realistically be considered war crimes, had the allies not emerged victorious. And it is an all European battle space, omitting all the Pacific air war. And nobody was in the skies except the Americans and Germans in this revisionist history. No Lancasters, Super-fortresses, Liberators, carrier aircraft—and Heaven forbid, The Atomic Bombs, that ended it all. Glamour boys of the Hollywood Canteen, but like I said, good CGI.
