I really liked this movie in spite of the fact that I watched it in 2020- where waking up requires a trigger warning...
I am not gay, am not male, am not from Sacramento, have not lost my mother to cancer yet I found almost everything about the movie to be relatable. Family dynamics are always tricky and when you throw a crisis situation in the mix itโs just made more tricky. I felt connected to almost all of the characters on some level- the overall issues are common human themes- portrayed brilliantly by the cast members- and the absurdity of life was captured equally well. Dying isnโt pretty- untangling relationships with family members is always messy- even in the best case scenarios. Bravo, well done and thank you for presenting a slice of real life in a relatable way.
