The detractors of this movie always compare it to the original 1933 version. If you watch it with a fresh eye and only compare it to itself it isn't that bad. When we see Kong in the beginning of the film we are afraid of him. By the end of the feature we sympathize with him. This is in part from the performances of Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange and also Rick Baker.
