I read the book first and was amazed with the writing, detail, character development, pop culture references and over all plot. I was very excited to see the movie until I hit play. If you like the book, I urge you to not watch the movie. While I know very few movies based on books live up to the expectations however, this is nothing like the book. It shares character names, that three keys are needed and the fight to win against the evil corporation IoI. Other than that, nothing. If there is a second book with a movie, I implore Mr. Cline to make the movie closer to the book. The movie did not share any of the character development seen in the books, none of the adventure in the book, a fraction of the pop culture references in the book and a hollow build to the plot. To say I was disappointed is a vast understatement. If you look at the movie as a separate entity, it has great graphics but the plot holes and lack of character development, that is not present in the book, still leave a lot to be desired.
