I found myself comparing my own life experiences to those of the author. Her story of physical and emotional abuses so closely mirror my own. The truly sad and horrific part is that these abuses, from being hit with firewood, standing nose to wall until you collapse from exhaustion, to having your head shaved (and much worse) are my own. As the author is my Mother, and I am her first born Son, these abuses that she retold were committed upon me by the author's second husband. So I can agree, this book is based on a true story.
