I don't review movies often simply because even if some aren't that great, I enjoy watching them. This entire movie my boyfriend and I had to fight the urge to leave the theatre. I think the only reason we didn't leave was because we paid $18 each for a ticket.
Anyways, this movie really left a lot to be desired. I found the acting of nearly every character to be terrible. Tara's character was probably the best since that actress (I do not know her name) really did a good job showing how a 17yr old would react to something like this. Sam's character really was awful at showing emotion. When she "cried", you could tell it was forced. Usually when someone is crying as hard as she was supposed to be, their face contorts a bunch and there's more tears. If this wasn't a movie, I'm sure everyone around her would have called her out on her crocodile tears. Gale Weathers was pretty useless this time around. Her character basically did nothing at all while Sydney carried the second half of the movie.
Also, I know creative discretion is a thing, but a lot of the Ghostface stuff made zero sense. Ghostface is human. Yet when Dewey shot Ghostface IN THE CHEST TWICE, somehow that didn't stop them. The person later found out to be Ghostface (I'm trying my best to not spoil it as much as possible) showed no signs of ever being shot and while Ghostface is constantly portrayed as being rather tall, the person who was behind the mask just wasn't. The only rational explanation I could come up with that is they had a bulletproof vest on and the camera angles made up for the height difference. But that doesn't really explain the NUMEROUS times someone knocks Ghostface against something HARD and they're able to get back up no problem and later show no signs of having their head bashed against a counter or against a chair.
This movie was nowhere near what I expected and the only half decent part I liked was the ending. The ending paid homage to the whole Scream franchise which was a nice touch.
