Netflix you've done it this time.
wow that's what you call an adaptation
Making a live action of an animated series is difficult tast and considering it's one of the best anime out there the pressure is always on coz the fan's are always on your neck
The animation style, characters, visuals effects art style all make it a Himalayan task. Coz if you mess it up lil bit it's gonna look like a clown show
But Netflix smashed my expectations out of the park by delivering the best possible live action adaptation I've seen.
The characters especially luffy, Zoro, nami even the smallest characters were done brilliantly. Koby even looks exactly like the original anime
Matt ovens and Steven maeda with their team did an amazing job putting this out there. Because live action of somthing this goofy and silly and funny and never mind fantasy story with deep emotional root is literally an impossible task
Casting was almost spot on every character luffy played by inaki might have looked silly and cringey sometimes but as the series progresses got better and better
Support from his loyal crew nami played by emily rudd , zoro played by Japanese actor mackenyu, Morgan Davies Jacob Gibson who played koby and ushop all did an absolutely brilliant job.
The visuals and effects action sequences and soundtracks all clicked and looked perfect all combined at first i thought the effects might look ridiculous but I was in for a huge surprise as they nailed it
Choreography, writing and dialogues were also great because it never felt boring at any point and gave the show a smooth and steady flow makes you feel it was over too soon
They tried sticking to even tiny details to stay true to the original manga which was wonderful to see But ofcourse they had to make a few changes from the original work and it might not be pleasing for some fans but it was always necessary considering the show ony had 8 episodes and the fast paced narrative through the story. And unlike most of the live actions Netflix version was able to make viewers both smile and teary not the same feeling like the original but still a good job considering the limitations.
If you are a fan and just want to point out everything and judge saying it's not that that's not this then don't watch it
It might feel a lil silly during the first episode but it'll hook you in slowly after the first episode and then it's a smooth ride
I binged it and felt like it ended too quickly and that's how entertaining it was.
Plus even if you're not a fan of one piece manga or anime you can still watch it because it's a good show and you'll love it
It's an entertaining and funny show even if you're not familiar with the anime or manga that's a huge win for Netflix
I strongly believe they'll give us more seasons so I hope they'll keep the quality the same because it's a usual thing these days first season will be all brilliant and the following seasons lose that magic.
They've got a big story to work with hopefully they'll deliver in future seasons too
