I think people are seriously missing the point of this show. It is not trying to gloss over the injustices done by the years of prejudice and phobia in Hollywood, it is slapping them in the face with it saying "look how great things could've been if just a few of you stood up and spoke about it, fought against it". Too many people are taking it at face value, thinking it is meant to be a biopic on the lives of the old Hollywood stars. It isn't. In my opinion, the few stars that are real are sprinkled in only to keep it based in reality, to prevent people from thinking all this discrimination is created for plot drama. No one is stupid enough to believe that an African American woman won best actress at the Academy Awards in 1947. It has only happened once EVER by Halle Berry in 2002! What they are trying to say, as Hattie McDaniel told Camille to do, is to fight for your place in that room. Anyway, Hollywood is worth watching just to see the epic performances from Patty LuPone and Holland Taylor.....and to loathe Jim Parsons!
