I loved this movie because it hits super close to home. My family lived precisely in la colonia Roma when I was born in the 70s, my mom worked as an OB doctor then at the same hospital system shown in the movie, so the whole thing feels like a flashback into life in Mexico while I was growing up, in a poetic way but without romanticizing the rampant inequality of the system we lived in. I think in the end, anyone can relate to the characters’ humanity.
