It’s a very good game with a great
roster that shows off a vast variety of Nintendo’s characters and amazing gameplay design with great effects. The only reason I’m giving this game such a low rating is that the game has many problems as well, and boy are these problems BIG! My personal problems with the game (and just MY problems) Is that roster is not very balanced because of how some characters stats and hit boxes are downright absurd and there are plenty of characters that many people will agree should’ve been in the game like geno and tons of characters in the game that really aren’t needed like rob and pichu. The whole idea of echo fighters is just kind of lazy and I wish a lot of characters’ movesets were more varied. The story mode is cool but not really anything special. Spirits mode is pretty dull and boring. The online modes are fun but full of toxicity like spammers and campers and toddlers who don’t know how to play the game like normal people which is never taken accounted for and the banning and gsp system is altogether trash. Like I know you can always ban people for playing cheaply but let’s be honest, there is no way it’s ever actually going to happen, and when the game lags out and it ends the match, it just bans you for like 2 hours. The game also constantly lags as there are times when your jumps will just disappear after a move and the person with bad Wi-Fi affects the whole game resulting in them usually winning and what’s even worse is they are never banned and usually the opponent is. And yeah for a game that won an award for best fighting game of the year it can be pretty unresponsive at times. Another huge problem is that at this point in the series the characters just kinda feel hollow. The point of a crossover game is to show off different characters in the best way possible by showing off all their powers, abilities and personalities and stuff, and I just feel like this game kinda failed to execute that. All the characters have kinda gone from special people from special series’ to just another character in the roster, nothing special. My last problem with the game is the fact that they put PlayStation characters like cloud and snake in the game which feels very weird to me because of how it just kinda ruins the theme and point of a huge Nintendo cross over game. Like Its cool how they put sora in the game but then agains it’s just like… seriously? Don’t get me wrong, it is very cool, like cloud is one of my favorite mains in the game but it just feels off. It just feels like a huge party platformer but then they add PlayStation characters that go on to be the big favorites and leave the characters that are supposed to be there in their shadow. Also stamina battles literally make me want to die. A lot of people think this is a good game and a lot of people don’t. I’m just kinda stuck in the middle here. Nowadays the only fun I can get out of the game is doing good which isn’t the best thing a dreaming about how much potential the game has and dreaming about what it could’ve been. No offense but if I were the head of this game I would’ve done SO many things different. This is just my personal opinion with the game but other than that it’s a fun game (or at least it can be fun) and I very much appreciate what sakurai and Nintendo have brought us (kind of) and the massive amounts of work the put into it even though a lot of the choices they made were pretty bland and dumb. If your a fan of the series, I recommend getting the game, but if not, don’t waste your time with it.
