I was hesitant to watch this after reading the reviews. I am a huge fan of the Guillermo Del Toro Hellboy films. I decided to give this one a chance only because I like David Harbour. The beginning of the movie pulls you in with a classic fantasy story and some exceptional visual effects. I mean the beginning may be the best scene of the whole movie, it’s just awesome. After that point, the plot is kind of all over the place. There is a scene where Hellboy fights 3 giants and it's definitely a highlight. David Harbour did a great job of staying true to the comics. He's not Ron but he doesn't need to be. This Hellboy is more accurate to the comics. Where the movie goes wrong is the long run time and the overflow of filler and one-liners, and no Abe Sapien. Bring back fish boy and I may give this another half of a star. It's not a great movie but it's not as bad as people say.
