I am 24 years old and I absolutely love the How to Train Your Dragon series. Mainly because I love the concept of the dragons being no different than the loving companions many of us have in our own homes! Toothless is just like a giant cat and I love it! My fiance took me to see this on premiere night because I was sooo excited and have been waiting for this movie for a long time! I will say I give this movie a 10/10 for story as well as the graphics! It's overall a beautiful conclusion to an amazing journey.
SPOILERS DO NOT READ
I will say though that while this film's story doesn't have quite as big of an emotional impact like character death, it does still in its own way take the viewer on an emotional roller-coaster. The part where Hiccup is in the camp worrying over when Toothless was coming home and the look everyone was giving him, then the, "Hiccup. You gave him his freedom." made me start to tear up because it really makes you start to think, maybe it is time to hang up the saddle and let Toothless do his own thing. You start to share that same mentality as poor Hiccup who loves Toothless so much, he's his best friend, and you know you should let him be free but at the same time we all know goodbyes are the most heartbreaking things in the world no matter how right they may be.
When Toothless and all the dragons leave the humans it does break your heart! I was sobbing so damn hard some people in the seats behind us were like 'oh my god shut up', it is an emotional goodbye to an amazing series of adventures. It does get better though, when Hiccup takes his family to see Toothless and his family for the first time. It helps ease the previous blow of that emotional goodbye by letting you know that its going to be okay again they meet up later in their lives and it wasn't really goodbye.
