The fact that this movie has any one star reviews is incredible to me. It's a masterpiece pure and simple. Do yourself a favor and watch it.

Is this the best movie I've seen? No. There are many plot points that are a bit sloppy, coincidences that make suspension of disbelief difficult, and character decisions that will inevitably make you facepalm. But at the end of the day I got to see a pregnant blood soaked woman run a chainsaw into a giant demon and push it through a woodchipper, and honestly, that's good enough for me.

I am so godamn sick of Gravity Falls. My cousin lovers Gravity Falls. My Parents love Gravity Falls. do not like Gravity Falls. You could say Im a hater. Maybe I am. But if my family didnt claim that this is the best animated kids show, or at least one of the best kids shows in existence, every godamn time we talk about the subject, maybe I wouldnt hate it so much. Now, onto the reasons why I think this show is overrated as hell. Lets start with the positives. I think this show got VERY good when it got dark. This show has some of the best dark moments of any animated kids show ever. I also think that Mabel is singlehandedly carrying the entire show on her back. I might not even have watched the entirety of the first season if it wasnt for Mabel. Waddles was also adorable, Soos was acceptable and at least not insufferable and the humor of this show was at times completely on point. Also Bill Cypher was a cool villain even if his motivations were pretty simplistic. The single reason this show gets anything above 1 star is b/c of this for me. I started watching Gravity falls b/c I heard about Bill Cypher, an extremely powerful yellow triangle that would be the main antagonist of the story. Low and behold, I didnt see this dude show up until the end of the first season. WHY? You really introduced your series finale villain halfway through the series? This would be like if the lich broke out of the amber in the middle of season 5 of adventure time. If they at least gave us a villain that was cool or powerful for the first season, maybe the first season wouldve been tolerable. But Gideon is one of the WORST TV VILLAINS IN HISTORY. He has ZERO intimidation, relatability, subtlety, intrigue, influence, charisma... anything that makes a villain good, Gideon HAS NONE OF IT. Thankfully, Bill is a good villain. The problem is his appearances in the show. When he is introduced, he is defeated by the "this is my mind so I can do whatever I want" cliche. This really took away from his presence and power when I first watched him. Hes cool otherwise, I just wish I couldve seen the dude more often than just season two, and within season two in only a few set episodes. Maybe I would've been ok with Bill appearing sparsely if the other characters were fun to watch. After all, there are a lot of shows where the main antagonist doesnt show up often, like Adventure Time. However the only protagonists that are tolerable/good in Gravity Falls are Mabel, Waddles, Soos, Bill and Wendy. That is literally it. Gravity Falls is episodic, not all of the episodes have an impact on the main plot and are usually self contained. These types of shows usually have more time to focus on character development and spend more time focusing on side characters since they have the time without the need to always focus on the plot or something that ultimately relates to the plot. The thing is... Gravity falls only focuses on the main characters that I find insufferable. Dipper gets most of the damn screentime, and I hate this dude more than any other main character of a TV show. If hes not scared, hes envious or in love with Wendy. But at least hes better than their uncle whose only personality trait seems to be "hes greedy but he has moments where hes a normal human being who feels other things than raging avarice" . When this is the quality of character Im getting on a regular basis... this shows got issues.
