This is a truly HORRIBLE Scooby-Doo movie. Scooby-Doo is easily one of my childhood favorites and this movie is an ABOMINATION! This movie completely debunks the original movie, basically claiming that everything that happened wasn’t real and I find that to be disrespectful to the director who made that film, Jim Stenstrum. He created the amazing saga of Zombie Island, Alien Invasion, Witch’s Ghost and Cyber Chase, where EVERYTHING was real. Heck, Reluctant Werewolf is briefly mentioned in this movie and Velma deemed it irrational and thus could not be real. Also the fact that the characters were de-aged is really irritating, stating that Daphne was “working at a TV station for an internship” is completely absurd! Daphne was an adult and had a legit career and now it’s being taken away! Also, Scooby hated the island cats in the original movie and would chase them around, barking and growling, but in this movie he’s AFRAID of the cats! Like WHAT? I HATE this movie, Velma has become mystery obsessed and only cares about the scientific and rationality of the mystery, she DID’NT used to be like this!. Fred’s character has DEVOLVED into a man who ONLY cares about his van and making traps. Daphne, in the recent years, has become obsessed with dating Fred and being in love with him. These guys used to be really good FRIENDS, to the point where they would tease each other when outside parties would flirt with them, not getting insanely jealous within minutes! This movie is also in continuity with the 13th Ghost film that came out, I have not watched it yet but I plan to. I hope Velma isn’t annoying in that one as well, they’ve really screwed up her character over the years. These guys DON’T go looking for mysteries, they stumble upon them, they’ve gone on many vacations and stuff over the years, and they were friends before solving mysteries together! I hate that they made it seem that these guys just happened together BECAUSE of mysteries and that IS NOT the case at all, and because they are just jumbled together now, they’ve made their characters out to be these awkwardly socially inept teenagers, which they AREN’T. These guys being college students, back when the show was released, made sense, they were out maybe once a week, on Tuesdays I believe, driving around and doing stuff, which would coincide with college schedules, with picking and choosing which days to go. Parents of high schoolers also wouldn’t let their kids go off willy-nilly only to come back god-knows-when. The fact that they have de-aged is really upsetting, too, because by the time the ‘90s happened, they were adults! Graduated college and had jobs and careers, but now that’s all gone! Sorry for the rant but the Scooby-Doo shows and movies nowadays are so bad, please just watch the original.
