I went in thinking, "Dang, I'm gonna hate this kid's show, but I'm gonna have to choke it down for context," but I came out thinking, "Wow, that was an incredible show," so I'd say that it really created a beautiful sense of character development, not only for the characters in the show, but for the audience as well.
Each of the characters are special, and represent their own personalities, like, in the beginning, Ezra was the young teenager who was, quite obviously, going through puberty, and Hera was the mother-figure of the crew.
It's very fun to watch, and the seasons just get better as you continue to watch. There are a lot of Clone Wars and OT references, which just brought back so many good memories. I can't recommend this show enough. It was just so meaningful and powerful.
