I'm enjoying a quality production that isn't about a Marvel character or otherwise geared to a much younger demographic. Mare of Easttown is appealing to anyone who likes a human story with interesting characters and is a good mystery to boot. Kate Winslet is wonderful (as always)... she certainly pulled off the Pennsylvania accent. The shocker with Evan Peters' character in the most recent episode was heartbreaking and not predictable. It is noted that the women in the production are not overly made up with perfect hair no matter what the scene...less "hollywood" and more real life. Jean Smart plays Mare's mother, and though it's a stretch to look at Jean and Kate and imagine they could be related, she delivers such a strong performance. I am going to be sad when it's over. Lately it seems I have to search really hard to find a really good story on film. There is plenty of good fantasy and action out there, but I love a well-acted human story. Thanks HBO!
