Judging by the 5 star ratings here, it's obvious that Bollywood has set the bar SO low that any pretentious, modern love tale with Hinglish speaking characters is hailed as "Deep" or "Intricate"!
Coming back to the movie, it was a rather bland attempt at making Woody Allen's "Match point". I don't understand this obsession Bollywood has with Hollywood and western culture in general. This movie could've been made without trying so hard to copy Hollywood. The constant use of the F word and steamy scenes, screamed desperation.
As for the plot, there literally wasn't one. Everything was so forced and rushed that none of it made sense. How did Karan and Alisha end up together after being childhood buddies?
There was no character development, except for Alisha, and the remaining characters ended up looking like cardboard cutouts. Who keeps hiring Ananya Pandey anyway? She literally plays her one dimensional self in EVERY role!
Bollywood has dealt with complex human characteristics in a much better way previously in films like Silsila, Arth, Masoom, etc. so this is hardly "groundbreaking".
The only positive aspect of this movie is Deepika, Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor's acting. Sadly, it was lacking severely in all other aspects and ended up looking a pretentious, wannabe flick.
Hard to believe this was made by the same director who made "Kapoor and sons".
Skip this polished turd and watch the original (match point) instead.
