Breathtaking scenery frames a woman in deep despair, agony of loss and willingness to perish. We watch her evolve. It was the kind of movie that once ended, theatre patrons sat refectively in their seats well past the credits.

I was ready to poohpooh the movie before watching it (critical cynic that I am regarding actors portraying other actors) but was moved by Ms.Zelweggers realistic interpretation of the moods and colors of veteran Ms. Garland, whose personality, addictions and emotions were moulded by early industry cruelty and abuse child actors endured. Oscar nod.
