The original? A short, sweet, fantastical hit. The Disney-produced English dub? A complete and utter miss.

While certainly not one of Ghibli's best, Arrietty provides a message of believing in yourself for kids as well as adults. As well as the gorgeous animation we've come to expect from the studio known for classics such as Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. A simple, yet sweet fantasy.

A Ghibli standard. Boasts gorgeous animation, whimsical fantasy, and even some subtle comedy. A fairy tale with that true Ghibli feel.

An eclectic mix of science-fiction, comedy, and fantasy. Quirky, quick, and at the same time, quaint and nostalgic.

What this film lacks in pacing, it makes up for in insightful commentary on disability, bullying, self-forgiveness and self-acceptance.

While certainly historically romanticized, the exaggerations and fantasy add to the romance and fantasy of the story itself.

Being the first film to come out of then-new Studio Ghibli, Nausicaa is far from perfect from a story-telling perspective... but it's a whole lot better than the infamous "Warriors of the Wind" dub that the west received originally.

While by no means a perfect film, My Neighbor Totoro is entry-level Ghibli fare fit for the whole family.
