Noroi stands to be a very different kind of film in an inherently interesting composition. This film revolves around the Paranormal Journalist Masafumi in his quest to 'find the truth at any cost' (paraphrased). As story progresses, suspense keeps building up when the protagonist Masafumi Kobayashi connects the blocks as he digs deeper to find the truth, much like a puzzle. The 'documentary style' seems ingenious as Kobayashi captures activities which normally wouldn't be seen by him in person. This technological dimension along with the role of psychic characters is a combination never seen before in this genre. Don't expect this to be a typical jumpscare flick like the Hollywood films. Though the growing unease whilst watching it makes it even more entertaining, or better than many other horror films. If you can make it to the end of the film, congratulations! That's where the peak surprise lies..

Unlike Kickboxer Vengeance, this movie improves as a sequel on what seemed like a scripted playback. The action is engaging if not unbelievable, the spirit, skills, multisensory action really make it worth watching. Definitely for the thrill, this one kicks some nuts.. 4.5/5
