Some movies are not presented with much promotional effort but they are admired by audience after watching. One such movie is "Thappad" . I chose to see this movie because my entertainment was unplanned and I reached cinema hall at 155 today and the movie was scheduled at 2pm.
The movie presents the story of battle of a housewife for her self respect. The main character Tapasi Pannu is a beautiful and caring housewife of an offcier whose promotion and deputation at London is due. The families of both of these are happily related to each other after marriage. An unfortunate incident happens when the husband's London deputation is cancelled and outraged and drunk in pary, he slaps his wife in front of the party to release his frustration. This is shocking for the housewife and the strain in the relationship begins with silent treatment. It goes and goes and she decides to stay with her parents. The husband fails to convince her to bring back and then sends legal notice. This family battle begins. In the Male dominant society , husband refuses to apologise for his mistake and considers the mistake as trivial. But wife continues to stay with parents and files for seperation. Then starts tge ugly law process. An effort of coloring the incident with domestic violence begins from both sides. In the meantime it's understood that the couple would become parents. Legal battle takes dramatic turn. It's interesting to see further story on screen. Always wonen have to adjust in marriage is simple message given by the movie but it's presented beautifully.Tapasi Pannu has performed the role of beautiful housewife who fighta for her battle with great resilience and patience. She maintains good relationship with her in laws at all times.
The movie is nice to watch My 3 out of 5.
