I read many negative reviews and strong criticisms prior to watching and thought many were unjustified as I kept them in mind while viewing. Priceless is a work of art, delivering itself in a manner very unique from its peers. Each scene is beautifully shot and the suspense is well kept throughout save for two very reflective areas where we watch James struggle inside with his choices. Complete disagreement with reviewers who say that the film plants what little success it has on its main character's rugged handsomeness, and spends too much time on his face. Disagreement with their opinion that Jame's phone conversation with his daughter while the thugs are knocking on his door was poorly done. That was one amazing part of the film. Scripting overall may not be on par with peer films, but it is succinct and delivers the subject matter and theme of the story on a level for a wider audience-- and no doubt, the goal of the film makers was to reach a wider audience by keeping it PG-13. I only wish the story had elaborated more on Jame's relationship with his daughter and showed him more involved in her life at the end. Jame's dream of his daughter is another truly pivotal and riveting moment in the film. While the film is serious and lacking in humor, it feels sufficient as you are compelled to feel for the female characters. Humor around a subject like this carries great risks. Reviewers who say this film is poor entertainment have missed the mark. This film was not made for entertainment. It does what it was meant to do VERY Well. Would view again and share with friends!
