This book is incredible. I was completely immersed in the storyline and unable to put it down. It isn’t the first book I’ve read where some humans have special powers (like X Men or Harry Potter,) but this story delves into why certain races, genders, etc. have hereditary powers; the privilege that accompanies such powers, and which groups throughout history have exploited or extinguished these traits. This cultural exploration was fascinating and very believable. The characters were multidimensional and very sympathetic. 5 out of 5 stars
