Usual racist tropes and racially marginalizing cinematics. The single black character is immediately belittled and treated as a secondary, no tertiary character. In his introductory scene, the camera angle is not even centered on him! He is being introduced to the audience and in the scene's framing, he is the third character off to the right, with the unlikely white female protagonist still framed in center, literally in the margin. As usual, Netflix's all white writers' room is showing.
